Abstract

Data management professionals face an evolving landscape that demands strong community, shared standards, and recognized credentials. This session introduces DAMA International and DAMA Calgary, highlighting their role in supporting data management practitioners through collaboration, best practices, and professional development. Attendees will gain an overview of DAMA’s mission and why it serves as a trusted community for data management professionals at all stages of their careers.

The presentation will also introduce the Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) designation, including what the certification represents, how it aligns with the DMBOK®, and why it is increasingly valued in today’s data-driven organizations. DAMA Calgary board members will share their personal perspectives and experiences, offering practical insights into the benefits of DAMA involvement and CDMP certification. This session is ideal for professionals looking to strengthen their data management foundation, expand their professional network, and advance their careers.
